Health Standards Organization (HSO) builds global health service standards and innovative assessment programs so people in their local jurisdictions can save and improve lives. High School HealthSmart is a comprehensive health education program that meets the National Health Education Standards, reflects the characteristics of effective health education curricula, and incorporates key knowledge and skill expectations detailed in the CDC’s Health Education Curriculum Analysis Tool (HECAT) for each grade level.health educationhealth education

Through CSHE, students learn basic health concepts and develop the skills required to obtain, adopt, practice and maintain health-enhancing and safe behaviors, including: analyzing the reliability and validity of media, technology and health resources; communicating effectively using refusal and conflict-management skills; being better consumers of information; managing life challenges and stress; setting goals; and making healthy decisions.health education

The Agency of Education created a short professional learning module to build baseline understanding of connections between: proficiency-based learning, flexible pathways, personalized learning plans, and newly adopted national standards for health education and physical education.

The electives are intended to be discipline-specific or inter-disciplinary/inter-professional, with experiential learning in health-related activities, which will include service-learning, a capstone course and evidence-based practice in public health.
